Course Description


To familiarise dental nurses with drugs commonly used in dentistry for treating disease and reducing pain and anxiety.

Learning content

DNNET II is designed to help training dental nurses and as an update for established nurses. The Pharmacology module includes the topics: pharmacology; and pain and anxiety management.


  • Identify common examples of drugs and therapeutic substances used in dentistry including indications for their use and appropriate advice for patients
  • Gain knowledge of drugs commonly used for pain and anxiety control including: local anaesthetics, analgesics, conscious sedation and anaesthetics; and hypnosis and other alternatives
  • Pass the 20 minute assessment
