As well as being a dentist, Stephen is a writer, editor and performer currently working in dentistry and the performing arts. He left clinical practice after a number of years preferring to work in dental writing, editing, publishing and PR.
Currently Editor-in-Chief of the British Dental Journal and Editor of the International Dental Journal, Stephen also owns his own publishing company, Stephen Hancocks Limited (www.shancocksltd.com) which provides CPD for the whole dental team. Having gained an MA at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London, he owns Outlaw Theatre Company (www.outlaw-theatre.com) which he founded and for which he writes, performs and produces.
Stephen is also well known for chairing, lecturing and after-dinner speaking. He was appointed OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the Birthday Honours in 1997 for services to the dental profession.
