Simon Ash

Professor Simon Ash became involved with dental sleep medicine DSM (snoring & obstructive sleep apnoea) around 25 years ago working in a multidisciplinary team, Chest medicine, ENT, Oral surgery and Orthodontics at Whipps Cross Hospital.

As an undergraduate he trained at The London then went into general practice, with a part time clinical assistant post before returning to secondary care. Postgrad Orthodontics at the Eastman then Senior Registrar at UCH. From 1988 to 2013, he was Consultant Orthodontist at Whipps Cross & Hon Consultant at The London. In specialist private practice Professor Ash developed a special interest in dental sleep medicine and between 2013 and 2017 this was almost entirely DSM. He has written several articles in peer reviewed journals, presented papers and lectured widely on DSM in the UK and abroad. He invented the Somnowell Chrome cobalt mandibular advancement device and was a co-founder and until recently a director of Somnowell Ltd. Professor Ash continues to teach postgraduate Orthodontics and Dental Sleep Medicine.
